TANDEM-1 stain is our most economical solution for staining wood surfaces. Unlike our monocoat oils, although available in the same shades, TANDEM-1 penetrates deeper into the wood, giving a richer, more intense colour. This stain is not a finish in itself, as it does not seal the wood. However, it can be covered with a traditional, monocoat oil, or even a water-based varnish for a complete finish.
Without minimizing the advantages of water-based stains, we’d like to point out that TANDEM-1 is easier to apply, as it leaves no overlap marks. It can also be used before a monocoat oil to intensify or adjust your shades. For example, using Ebony shade under Bleached color creates a black with subtle white and gray undertones. What’s more, TANDEM-1 is more economical than a monocoat finishing oil for simple tinting.
Although we have developed a range of high-quality monocoat products, we also wanted to include a traditional oil in our range to meet the needs of certain customers. The result is TANDEM-2. This oil is more liquid and malleable than our monocoat oils, making it ideal for overlaying on our interior oils.
TANDEM-2 is also more economical in terms of volume and application. It is perfect for those who want to add a single coat of refresh over a LIGNA® oil, without any additional complications. It’s easy to apply, making it a flexible and practical choice.
Many exterior finishing products on the market are designed primarily for terraces, but are not always suitable for horizontal surfaces. As a result, they often end up peeling and flaking after one or two winters. To avoid these problems, we’ve developed EXTERIA, a versatile oil that provides effective protection for both vertical and horizontal wood surfaces.
Maintaining and refreshing EXTERIA oil is extremely simple. There’s no need to strip your exterior wood surfaces; the product wears down gradually, and all you need to do is apply a new coat of protection when differences appear between more and less exposed areas. Thanks to its pigments, EXTERIA offers natural protection against UV rays. Although its finish is duller and less smooth than indoor oils, it remains an excellent option for certain indoor applications such as saunas.
In Canada, summer temperatures can be unpredictable, making it difficult to plan outdoor work that requires several consecutive days of good weather. That’s why we developed HYBRI-DECK, a unique hybrid oil that mixes with water rather than solvents, impregnating the wood for in-depth protection.
HYBRI-DECK dries quickly and emits very low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), making it an ideal choice for rapid protection of vertical and horizontal surfaces. Although there is a risk of overlapping during application, this problem is avoided by proceeding board by board. Although its finish is more matt and slightly less rich in terms of colour than EXTERIA, HYBRI-DECK remains a first-choice option. What’s more, the addition of an anti-UV agent to its formula ensures protection even with Natural colour.
UVIO from LIGNA® is a UV protective primer designed to slow the graying and aging of wood caused by the sun. Created in response to strong demand for clear exterior finishing products, it offers enhanced protection against graying, although HYBRI-DECK already contains an anti-UV agent. For maximum effectiveness, UVIO should be overcoated with two coats of LIGNA® HYBRI-DECK or another water-based exterior finish, which improves wood durability and reduces the frequency of maintenance.
